It’s always a strange feeling in the lead up to Christmas each year as whilst we at Cutter don’t have a period of shutdown – a lot of our partners and customers do.
This presents an opportunity for reflection when the world isn’t moving at 100mph, and a bit of breathing room to do those bottom of the todo list tasks (like migrating this blog to a new webhost).
What did 2024 bring?
- Further changes in the landscape between platform vendors making customers re-think strategies
- Increased challenges in the security space with organisations being exploited and attacked
- Pressures on budgets to make tired old kit last longer
- Continued ‘return to the office’ mandates trying to put the genie back in the bottle
- Continued ‘work from anywhere’ mobility mandates empowering colleagues to work from anywhere (the opposite of the above!)
- Growth in the CSP space with yet more organisations looking to shift from a CapEx to OpEx model trying to put figures on people’s heads for budgeting
- Innovations (some hype, some actual) across vendors and technologies
But what did 2024 *really* bring?
2024 brought ‘opportunity’… (an abundance of it!)
Opportunity to sit down and look at the market in response to external changes
Opportunity to research, test (play with) and explore the potential of new technologies
Opportunity to implement those new/evolved solutions to help embed new strategies
But above all, it brought us all crashing down to earth that as a world we are reliant on a smallish number of vendors and any toy throwing can have a huge impact on BAU. Good and bad though.
What does 2025 bring? Probably a plague of locusts but we’ll be ready 🙂
