Just a huge wow, I was fortunate enough to attend NerdioCon in Cancun a few years ago where Microsoft then announced support for on-premises extension of Azure Virtual Desktop using Azure Stack HCI (aka Azure Local now). But now, there’s a public preview supporting Nutanix AHV bringing all of that goodness to the Nutanix ecosystem opening up new doors.
Without a shadow of a doubt, Nerdio makes AVD so much better, and bringing Nutanix performance to the party things become incredibly interesting.
NerdioCon 2026 happens this week, and Nutanix are sponsoring it, we can expect big things from this partnership.
I’m looking forward to what this offers for folks who don’t want to go cloud for their workloads on-premises where latency counts, but also don’t want the hassle of managing the on-premises Remote Desktop / EUC infrastructure.
I’m also attending the Nutanix UK EUC Xpert Day on Wednesday with Omnissa and Parallels where I am also thrilled to see that Nutanix is at the table with other well known EUC players too. (if you’re there, come say hi!)
